The Stonehenge -Newgrange Solstice Alignment
The Stonehenge-Newgrange Solstice Alignment
Google Earth is a fantastic tool for Ley Hunters
I had been using Google Earth taking a look at what might be on the line in the centre of Stonehenge toward summer time Solstice at 50 deg NE.There aren't surprisingly some features with that line but nothing particularly spectacular. I had heard that the Winter Solstice Sunrise line within the SouthEast went along to the fantastic pyramids in Giza but quickly found that it had been another myth, although the line did pass through Paris, which was set up being a grid through the Grand Orient Freemasons and it is filled with astronomical alignments like Washington DC is (thanks Dan Brown)
Stonehenge
It as being a drizzly type of day therefore ideal for laptop research I chose to carry on with Google Earth looking next in the Equinox Sunrise line due east, and again found some features, then Winter Sunset inside the free airline which visited Devon and associated with some burial chambers there, then towards the Equinox Sunset in the western world. This line continues to Lundy. Lastly I followed the SummerSolstice Sunset line also to my utter amazement found it going right into the entrance of Newgrange. So in order to double check I began my next line about the Newgrange Winter Solstice Sunrise Line (the Alignment that Newgrange is renowned for) and Bingo! It went directly into Stonehenge. In like manner TREBLE check Gurus a navigation expert friend of mine to checkit out which are his figures:
Newgrange = 53 deg 41.65' 6 deg 28.6,
Stonehenge = 51deg 10.7' 1 deg 49.4',
The length between them is 421.4 km (262 miles).
The bearing of Stonehenge from Newgrange = 129 deg 42.8' I.E, (just like the bearing for winter solstice sunrise) = 39deg 43' S of E and cos Azimuth = sin DEC/coslat = 0.6470
Stonehenge for 3100 BC gives 40.32 deg Of E for winter solstice sunrise giving difference of about 2/3 of your degree.(a small discrepancy )
It must be pointed out that this line goes across water throughout the Irish Channel, and across mountains in Wales, thinking how Mesolithic people achieved this phenomenon without flying.
It now appears as if the structure dates of both monuments we are given by archaeologists are not very accurate
As always although my research was fruitful,the answers I got just provided a lot more questions regarding these two enigmas.
Newgrange now appears to have been built simultaneously because the earliest earthworks at Stonehenge, around 5,000 in years past, but were the builders of one structure conscious of another? Or were they even built from the same people? The Midwinter Sunrise appears to have been crucial for the builders of Newgrange, as have also been the situation at Stonehenge with all the Summer Sunset. Could it truly be just be a coincidence why these two breath-taking prehistoric structures are aligned in a way?
I dont think so!
